Allianz significantly improves business process efficiency

Allianz is one of the leading companies in the insurance industry, offering a wide range of insurance, products, and asset management services to 85 million customers in over 70 countries. Before 2006, Allianz branches in Eastern Europe had been using a mix of SAP, Oracle, and local ERP systems. In 2006, Allianz initiated the implementation of a Shared Service Center (SSC) with the goal of establishing a unified SAP template for all its branches worldwide in order to manage business processes more efficiently.

The solution

Allianz began with the invoicing process, implementing Kofax Capture to capture all of its invoices and related paper documents at the location. The solution uses optical character recognition (OCR) technology to transform content into reliable accounting information. Key terms are identified and used to automatically distribute the digital documents to an electronic workflow and then centrally process and pay them immediately. The capture solution integrates seamlessly with SAP to facilitate visibility into the entire billing process.

The result

The solution greatly simplified document capture for the entire company and completely eliminated past problems. At a large number of Allianz branches, the time required to process an invoice is now only eight hours from receipt to payment; a remarkable improvement from the previous four-day period. Following the success of the accelerated billing process, SAP functionality was expanded to integrate orders and purchases with accounting, improving business process efficiency and customer service.
